Mark – Senior Chemist
Canning Vale, Perth

Before joining Bureau Veritas I was a Graduate Chemist stationed at a mine site laboratory in the Western Australian Goldfields. As shift supervisor, I supervised a small team of lab technicians. I chose to join Bureau Veritas (then Ultra Trace Analytical Laboratories) as I saw an opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience in analytical chemistry.

I began working at Ultra Trace in 2004. Initially I worked as a Lab Technician and ICP-MS Operator for three years before becoming a QC/QA Technician and Supervisor for a further three years. An opportunity came knocking to take on the role of Technical Manager at a brand new 'greenfield' lab venture in Namibia and I jumped at the chance. After a year spent commissioning, validating and training I have returned to the Canning Vale branch to work for the Global Technical Governance Team. My role as a Senior Chemist provides technical support and auditing for our global network of mineral laboratories, and participation in technical development and innovation projects . During my employment Bureau Veritas has been very supportive of my personal development by providing the opportunity to complete a Diploma of Business (Frontline Management) and various short courses.

Murray – Business Development Manager BV Minerals – Coal Services

Before joining Bureau Veritas, I graduated as a chemist working in environmental, petroleum and pharmaceutical laboratories before developing my technical sales experience in the energy and environmental industries. While at Bureau Veritas, I have worked in business development positions for the environmental, petroleum, asset integrity and coal business units. My current role involves managing the Bureau Veritas sales and marketing efforts in the Australian coal industry. My main responsibility is to grow the business by developing new sales in the coal exploration, production and superintending markets. It is a very competitive environment however I work with an experienced group of professionals keen to provide a quality service to our customers.

In the past five years, Bureau Veritas have supported my career development by selecting me in the BV Academy’s leadership development program. I was also able to complete a Masters of Business Administration that has allowed me to advance my career at Bureau Veritas.

Kate - Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Manager
Thebarton, Adelaide

Before joining Bureau Veritas (Amdel) I had just completed my honours degree in Marine Science. A Graduate Chemist role with Amdel was advertised, which I applied for and won. I’m still with Bureau Veritas 9 years later, and never predicted the amount of opportunity that would be presented to me. I was initially employed as a Chemist, after 2 years I was managing the ICPMS division of a laboratory. From there I moved into program management, acting as the program coordinator for a key client account between our Adelaide Geoanalytical and Mineral Processing divisions. It was at that stage I was offered the position of Quality Manager of Adelaide which progressed to Quality Manager for the Minerals East division. From there I moved to a Business Development Manager for 18 months and am now the Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Manager for the Minerals Group.

I have had many rewarding experiences at Bureau Veritas Amdel, but it is the people I work with, and the new opportunities and challenges that are continually presented to me that keep me coming to work every day.
