Business Challenge
Poorly operating Coal Handling & Preparation Plants (CHPP) cost the mining industry millions of dollars per year. To save this money requires reliable data on a routine basis, constant monitoring and a sound knowledge of the underlying principles of CHPP operations. Comprehensive audits provide the essential core information for the extrapolation of efficiency data. Logistics of CHPP auditing have traditionally been a huge challenge for mine-site operators and service providers.
Solution
Bureau Veritas recognises the key component to the success of a sample plant audit is the logistical planning required. Our specialised auditing team have over the past 30 years provided complex and large CHPP audits for major coal producers. Our auditors identify operational inefficiencies, enabling clients to correct those inefficiencies and maximise yield.
Our successful coordination and completion of audits has been acknowledged through the satisfaction of our clients (among them the industries largest coal producers) over our 30 years history providing this service.
We have the internally trained and mine-site competent personnel to cater for the largest CHPP audits. Furthermore, Bureau Veritas has a core strength in this area in our ability to support clients with additional local testing laboratories and facilities.
Our audits go over each individual piece of equipment and assess their individual efficiency to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of the entire coal washing process.
CHPP Audits in conjunction with on site Laboratory support provides data for efficient yield management on critical wash plant equipment.
OUR APPROACH
Key contact people are nominated on each side
A senior auditor will consult with each client to ensure a clear defined scope of work is achieved.
Each site is inspected prior to audit sampling. Sample points are evaluated for adequacy and safety.
A report summarising sampling requirements and Job Safety Analysis is then presented to the client for review.
Timeline and coordination planning is developed – this is set with the client to minimise downtime and production loss.
Samples are collected and dispatched according to relevant and required standards. Sampling is monitored closely during audit periods to ensure all client requirements are met.
Bureau Veritas will comply to all client polices for Health Safety and Environment.
Interim reports are supplied on a regular basis giving the client direct feedback on analysis progress and supplying information that may be vital to process improvement.
All results are assessed constantly ensuring Bureau Veritas supplies the most meaningful set of analysis possible.
Production process is simulated - samples are analysed to define the efficiency of each process audited.
Reports are generated and released in either pdf or other client required format.
